Compression bending is the most commonly used method for custom tube bending, creates a good-looking outer surface, but the inside of the
tube is deformed. A compression bend forms by pushing the tube into
a groove in a stationary radius die, as a pressure die wipes around the
radius die. A press bender works on this principle, and counterbalances
the downward force of the ram die with two wing dies. These dies resist
the ram force with torque applied opposite to their natural rotation,
which keeps the tube tightly in the groove.
