La conversion
Comme l’indique leur nom, les usines du Groupe Conversion Cascades inc. transforment certains produits bruts du secteur des pâtes et papiers en produits finis et semi-finis. Pour ce faire, elles s’approvisionnent, entre autres, en cartons non couchés de leurs usines soeurs et les transforment.
Ce secteur a connu une forte expansion en 1995 grâce à l’intégration de deux nouvelles entreprises: Cascades Enviropac inc., qui produit des emballages de protection en carton de nid d'abeilles, et Converdis inc., spécialisée dans les papiers d'emballage et la production de bouts de protection pour les bobines. Les papiers kraft
Ces papiers sont fabriqués à la doyenne de nos usines à East Angus. Celle-ci, propriété à 100 % de Cascades inc., produit des papiers kraft utilisés dans la fabrication de sacs à parois multiples, de sacs d'épicerie, de sacs publicitaires et de sachets-repas.
Produits de pâte moulée
Les usines du secteur des produits de pâte moulée fabriquent principalement des boîtes à couvercle pouvant contenir 8, 12 ou 18 oeufs pour le grand public et des contenants à alvéoles pour l'emballage des oeufs conçus pour l'industrie avicole, composés entièrement de fibres recyclées.

Converting
As the name "converting" indicates, the plants in the Converting Sector convert certain raw pulp and paper materials into finished and semi-finished products. They do so by obtaining supplies of uncoated paperboard, for example, from their sister plants and converting them.
This sector underwent major expansion in 1995 following the integration of two new joint ventures: Cascades Enviropac Inc., which produces protective honeycomb type packaging, and Converdis Inc., which is specialized in packaging products and protective roll ends. These acquisitions have enabled Cascades to expand its range of products and consolidate its position as the leading North American producer of protective roll ends for use in the pulp and paper industry, and to become a major player in packing products on that same market.
Cascades Multi-Pro Inc., specializing in sheeting, is currently developing biodegradable forest and horticultural mulches, Cellu-Fib. These revolutionary products will prove to be an ecological alternative to phytocides, as a chemical-free means of weed control.
The mulches will be especially designed for reforestation, orchards, and landscaping.

Owing to their geographic location, the mills in Kingsey Falls, Drummondville,
Berthierville (Québec), Tacoma (Washington), Birmingham (Alabama), Richmond (Virginia) and soon in Toronto (Ontario), serve the entire North American market quickly and efficiently.
Furthermore, we are presently working on the opening of another mill located in
Saulcy-sur-Meurthe (France).
